Last updated: 24 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how Website Design Auckland ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and shares personal information through websitedesignauckland.com. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). If you have any questions, email us at hello@websitedesignauckland.com.
What information we collect
When you send an enquiry
If you fill in our enquiry or quote form, we collect the information you choose to give us:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your current website address (if you have one)
- Your industry
- Your goal or what you would like help with
- The page of our website you sent the form from
You do not have to give us this information, but if you leave out contact details we may not be able to reply to you.
When you contact us directly
If you phone or email us, we keep a record of what you tell us so we can respond and follow up.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server automatically records basic technical information when you visit or submit a form. This can include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time. We use this to keep the site secure, to block spam and abuse, and to apply rate limits on form submissions.
Why we collect it
We use your personal information to:
- Reply to your enquiry and arrange your free website plan
- Prepare proposals and quotes you have asked for
- Provide services if you become a client
- Protect our website from spam, fraud and misuse
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations
We will not sell your personal information, and we will not use it for purposes unrelated to why you gave it to us without your permission, unless the law allows or requires it.
Who we share it with
When you submit our enquiry form, your details are sent to us by email using Postmark, a third-party email delivery provider based in the United States. This means your information is processed overseas. We use Postmark only to deliver form submissions to us, and we choose providers that are expected to protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.
We may also share information with professional advisers such as our accountant or lawyer where needed, or where the law requires us to disclose it.
Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised access, use, changes or disclosure. Access is limited to the people who need it to respond to you or deliver our services.
We keep enquiry records only for as long as we need them for the purposes above, which is generally up to 24 months. Information connected to client projects or invoices may be kept longer where we need it for legal, tax or accounting reasons. When we no longer need information, we delete or securely dispose of it.
In short: we collect only what we need to reply to you, keep it secure, and do not hold on to it longer than necessary.
Cookies and analytics
Our website does not set tracking cookies by default. If we use analytics tools such as Google Analytics in future, these may use cookies to collect information about how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed. If we add analytics, we will update this policy to explain what is collected and how you can opt out.
Your rights to access and correct your information
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (IPP 6), and to ask us to correct it if you think it is wrong (IPP 7). To make a request, email hello@websitedesignauckland.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond as required by the Act.
If we decide not to correct information, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction you wanted to your information.
Privacy breaches
If a privacy breach happens that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we change how our website works or add new tools. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
