North Shore

Web Design for North Shore Businesses

Custom websites for businesses from Devonport to the Hibiscus Coast, built so customers on the Shore find you before they find someone across the bridge.

Web design North Shore businesses get results from has to reflect how the Shore actually works. Many locals prefer to shop, eat and hire close to home rather than cross the Harbour Bridge, so the businesses that show up first for local searches win a lot of work. We build custom, mobile-first websites for businesses from Devonport to the Hibiscus Coast, with local SEO set up from day one so customers on the Shore can find you.

Where we work on the North Shore

The North Shore is a big area with several distinct business hubs. We work with businesses right across it, including:

  • Takapuna and Milford: Hurstmere Road retail and hospitality, beachside cafés, clinics and professional offices
  • Albany: a large retail and commercial centre, office parks and the growing residential areas around it
  • Devonport and Northcote: village shops, cafés, tourism and service businesses with loyal local customers
  • Browns Bay and the East Coast Bays: town centre retailers, hospitality and home services
  • Glenfield, Wairau Valley and Rosedale: trade suppliers, showrooms, manufacturers, warehouses and automotive businesses
  • Hibiscus Coast: Orewa, Silverdale and Whangaparāoa, where fast residential growth has brought a wave of new trades and services

The North Shore business mix

The Shore combines busy consumer-facing town centres with some of Auckland's larger light industrial and commercial areas. That means two quite different kinds of website.

Retail, hospitality and health businesses in places like Takapuna, Milford and Browns Bay need sites that sell the experience: good photos, clear opening hours, easy bookings and a fast mobile load. Businesses in Wairau Valley, Rosedale and Glenfield often need something more practical. Trade customers want product ranges, capabilities, account information and a phone number they can tap, without wading through marketing copy.

Home services are a big category right across the Shore, from builders and landscapers to cleaners and electricians. If that is your trade, our page on websites for tradies covers the quote forms, service area pages and click-to-call features that turn visits into jobs. Clinics and practices will find more detail on our dentist and health clinic websites page.

Hibiscus Coast note: new subdivisions around Silverdale and the coast mean plenty of new residents who do not yet have a "go-to" plumber, café or physio. A site that ranks for suburb searches there can pick up customers before loyalties form.

Shore searches are often suburb-led. People type "physio Takapuna", "mechanic Glenfield", "builder Albany" or "hairdresser Browns Bay", or simply "near me" and let Google work out the location. They also use "North Shore" as a catch-all, especially for services where they will travel a little, such as accountants, specialist trades and wedding suppliers.

The Shore is also home to diverse communities, including a large Korean community and many South African families, along with Chinese, Indian and other communities. For some businesses that means a second-language page or a full language version is worth considering, particularly in health, education, property and food. We only recommend it where your customer base makes it pay off.

Why suburb-level SEO and Google Business Profile matter here

Because the Shore is spread out, Google tends to show businesses that are close to the searcher. A customer in Orewa is unlikely to be shown a business in Devonport in the map results, even though both are on the North Shore. That makes two things important.

First, your Google Business Profile has to be complete and accurate, with the right primary category, a defined service area if you travel to customers, real photos and a steady flow of genuine reviews. Our Google Business Profile guide for Auckland covers each of these. Second, your website needs to back the profile up with consistent details, schema markup and pages that genuinely describe the suburbs you serve.

We build that foundation into every site. If you want ongoing help climbing the rankings, our SEO and local SEO service picks up from launch.

What you get with a North Shore website

Designed from scratch

No templates. Your site is designed around your customers, your services and the suburbs you want to win.

Fast and mobile-first

Built for phones first, with page speed and Core Web Vitals treated as part of the job, not an afterthought.

Fixed price, you own it

A fixed-price quote before work starts. You own the domain, design, content and code, with no lock-in contract.

Small business friendly

Most custom small-business sites cost $3,500 to $8,000 +GST. See our small business website design service.

Moving off Wix, Squarespace or an old template

Plenty of Shore businesses started with a DIY website builder or a template site from years ago, and it shows in slow load times, weak rankings and a dated look. We have experience fixing Wix and Squarespace sites, and rebuilding them properly when that makes more sense. A website redesign with us includes 301 redirects and a full SEO migration checklist, so you keep the rankings and traffic you already have while the new site does a better job of turning visitors into enquiries.

Meeting logistics

We do not have a public office on the Shore, or anywhere else. We are a service-area business, so we come to you, whether that is your showroom in Wairau Valley, your clinic in Takapuna or a café in Orewa. If the motorway is jammed or your diary is full, a video call works just as well, and many clients mix both across a project.

We are available Monday to Friday 7am to 9pm and weekends 9am to 7pm, which suits owners who are on the tools or in the shop during the day.

Working beyond the Shore

Plenty of North Shore businesses also serve customers in other parts of Auckland. If that is you, we can structure your site to cover more ground without creating thin copies of the same page. Our pages on central Auckland web design and West Auckland show how we approach those areas.

Whichever suburb you trade from, you are working with Auckland website designers who build for how local customers actually search. Book a free 20-minute website plan and we will look at your business, your area and your competition, and give you real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Do you meet clients on the North Shore?

Yes. We are a service-area business with no public office, so we come to you. That might be your shop in Takapuna, your unit in Rosedale or a café in Browns Bay. If the bridge traffic is not worth it for either of us, we run the session on a video call instead. You deal directly with the people building your site either way.

Should my website target 'North Shore' or individual suburbs?

Most Shore businesses benefit from both. People search 'North Shore' for broader services, but many searches use a suburb such as Albany, Takapuna or Browns Bay. We usually target the North Shore on your main pages and add genuinely useful pages for the suburbs you serve most, rather than dozens of thin copies.

I am in Rosedale or Wairau Valley and mostly sell to other businesses. Do I still need local SEO?

Usually, yes. Trade buyers and contractors still search Google for suppliers, often with a suburb or 'North Shore' in the query, and they check your Google Business Profile for hours and directions before visiting. Clear product or capability pages, a correct map listing and quick contact options make a real difference for B2B businesses too.

Can you build a website in Korean or another language?

Yes. If a large share of your customers prefer another language, we can build the site with proper language versions rather than relying on automatic translation. You provide or approve the translated content, and we set the site up so Google understands which version to show to which searcher.

How long does a North Shore website project take?

A typical custom business site takes one to four weeks from kick-off to launch. E-commerce and larger sites take around five to twelve weeks. The biggest factor is usually how quickly content and feedback come through, not where you are based. We give you a timeline with your fixed-price quote.
